Research Interests

Methods

I am mainly interested in topics such as hybrid reasoning models (knowledge representation + data mining), explainable AI, computational privacy, and reinforcement learning. In specific, I am interested in how to model knowledge (with respect to context, and coming from different sources) in order to reason on it through logic-based mechanisms (e.g. argumentation, common-sense reasoning). In this direction, further aspects I want to explore are the roles of machine learning, and data mining in enhancing knowledge-based reasoning.

Application Domains

In addition to my interest in formal work on reasoning and decision-making mechanisms, I am motivated by the application domains in which such models are to be applied. I am excited about the implications of AI models applied in the Internet of Things, Social Networks, healthcare, and autonomous driving. Within these domains, I am particularly attracted by topics that challenge aspects of societal relevance such as trust, privacy, fairness and security.
